Deep Scan Tech uncovers hidden structures at the site of Denmark's tallest building

Deep Scan Tech has successfully completed 3D scans of the ground at the site of a planned high-rise building at an Aarhus waterfront location. The new tower at Mindet 6 will be Denmark’s tallest building [1]. It will function as a landmark for Sydhavnskvarteret, a new quarter located at a former industrial area at the city’s south harbour. In particular, the aim of the 3D scans at the site was to search for old pieces of underground infrastructure such as the remains of a breakwater from 19th century and an old rail track.

“The scans were completed with no disturbance to the activities at the site.”

The 3D scans were able to reach a depth of about 20 meters, providing a comprehensive view of the underground structures at the site. The unique 3D scans allowed to see into the ground and uncover important information about the site that would have otherwise been hidden: The 3D scans revealed areas where the earth had been moved and where other kinds of old underground structures are located. This information will allow planners to avoid potential conflicts with underground infrastructure as they move forward with the construction project.

The location of the high-rise building is right next to Filmby, a busy centre of movie and television productions that is well known to many film fans in Denmark and abroad. Nevertheless, the scans were completed with no disturbance to the activities at the site, as they could be completed quickly from the surface and by moving around, adjusting to traffic.
