Deep Scan Tech is solving the 130-trillion-euro question of critical infrastructure

World’s critical infrastructure is under pressure from increased use, ageing and climate change. It has been calculated that investments of over 130 trillion € over coming five years are needed [1]. The problem is that the true condition of infrastructure is often unknown due to the simple fact that no one can see what lies underground. Underground problems such as leaks, moisture, polluted soil, soil movements and deteriorating foundations can slowly develop to catastrophic consequences if they go unseen [2].

This is where Deep Scan Tech can help. Our unique technological solution can give you an unprecedented 3D view of the underground, easily from the surface. We can scan the ground to see the conditions under the surface or even see under existing buildings and infrastructure to examine their condition. Things such as moisture, pollutants, soil layers and various parts of foundations all become visible.

“It has been calculated that investments of over 130 trillion € over coming five years are needed.”

We have three clear competitive edges:

  1. Our approach is non-invasive, there’s no need to dig, drill or break structures, all measurements are done from the surface
  2. We can give 3D Visibility to our clients with views of internal structures, materials, soil types and moisture.
  3. The scans are quick and easy to complete. We can scan large areas quickly, reliably and staying in budget.

We base our work on existing and published science and, by adding our own innovations, create new products and services – some of which are currently in patent process. At the same time with our R&D work, we do customer projects. These include all kinds of critical infrastructure, for example

  • dams, where we can locate leaks that go around or even under the dam,
  • sewer and water systems where we help with locating leaks,
  • the world’s first spent nuclear fuel repository in Olkiluoto, Finland, where we help with monitoring the final test runs before the operational use of the site.

Deep Scan Tech is currently developing its business towards scanning partnerships. We will train our partners to do scanning with leased equipment. Data analysis will become our core business. To enable the change, we are developing standardised and patented scanning hardware that is sold or leased and that is easy to use. That way owners and operators of infrastructure can easily do scans on their own and use the results in their daily operations.
